Premier Pools Announces Director of Homebuilder Development
Premier Pools and Spas, the Pool and Spa News 2006 Builder of the Year and Ranking Arizona's 2007 Number One Pool Builder has named Shawn McCarty as director of homebuilder development. McCarty will be responsible for managing and implementing all aspects of Premier Pools' partnerships with homebuilders in the Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas markets.
"We are excited to have Shawn as an addition to our team," says Paul Porter, co-owner of Premier Pools. "With the increasing growth in our homebuilder market, we know that it is critical to have the right person heading the division."
Street Named in Honor of Homebuilding Executive
A street in North Las Vegas has been named for Irene Porter to honor her 30 years of service as executive director of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association (SNHBA) and decades of service to the community. The ceremony took place in April at Desert Wind Home's Centennial Crossing subdivision.
Area Businesses Contribute to Extreme Makeover
West Haven Development Group, homebuilder during the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" rebuild of the Boettcher home last January, wishes extreme thanks to 150-plus northern Nevada businesses that helped make the Stagecoach, Nev., family's wishes come true in just seven days. West Haven also thanks thousands of volunteers and spectators who traveled to support the "Extreme Makeover" project.
Sparks and Kiley Ranch Announce Water Use Partnership
In a cooperative agreement, the City of Sparks and Kiley Ranch Communities have joined forces to enhance water conservation in the community by signing the largest agreement by a single project for recycled water use to date. The Master Service Agreement, signed by the Sparks City Council, authorizes Kiley Ranch to reserve 553.32 acre-feet or 154 million gallons of recycled water per year for landscape and construction irrigation purposes. When combined, phases one and two of the agreement will contribute more than $228,000 per year to the City of Sparks.
"Kiley Ranch Communities' significant investment in the use of recycled water speaks volumes to their commitment to preserving our environment and precious natural resources," says Sparks Mayor Geno Martini. "Their leadership will make Kiley Ranch a special place to live, work, and play."
Thor Construction Announces Record Revenue
Thor Construction Inc., one of the largest minority owned companies in the nation, announces its major milestone of achieving $150 million in company revenues. Thor's expansion into the Las Vegas market has garnered successful company projects in the hospitality industry from organizations such as Harrah's Entertainment, MGM Mirage and Stations Casinos. Thor was the first minority company in the history of Nevada to receive an unlimited contractor's license. Harrah's and Thor's relationship has allowed Thor's annual volume to grow from just over $1 million in 2004 to over $30 million in annual volume in four years.
Summerlin Lot Sells for Record Price
A custom lot in The Ridges at Summerlin sold in March for $9 million, which translates to nearly $3 million per acre or approximately $61 per square-foot?the highest price ever paid in The Ridges for a custom lot.
The 3.4-acre parcel is at the end of a cul-de-sac adjacent to Bear's Best Las Vegas, the Jack Nicklaus-designed course at the centerpiece of The Ridges community. The spacious lot also borders Red Rock National Conservation Area to the west, ensuring the federally protected land will remain undeveloped. Last summer, according to Kevin Orrock, top division executive of the Howard Hughes Corporation, an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin, a completed and furnished custom home in Promontory at The Ridges sold for $7.85 million, setting the record for sales per square foot in the Las Vegas Valley.
