Great Time to Buy Update
In its ongoing efforts during the slowdown in sales, SNHBA recently secured two consumer-oriented web domain names: www.VegasNewHome.com and www.VegasNewHome.org, which are forwarded to the association's website.
At the top of the page is graphic art and link to a new webpage, "It's a Great Time to Buy a New Home," with links to SNHBA's builder and associate members, who can assist potential buyers in finding a new home. SNHBA's domain name is featured on the NAHB "Great Time to Buy" ads running monthly in member publications, the Las Vegas New Homes Guide and Homes & Living.
Clark County Adopts New Building Administrative Code
?On April 1, the County Commission approved an ordinance to amend the Building Administrative Code, also known as Section 22.02 of the Clark County Code, by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it with a new Section 22.02. The new code became effective April 15. It is comprehensive and covers a variety of topics including the creation of an enforcement agency, construction permit requirements, exemptions, protocols for the submittal of construction documents, design provisions and permit and plan review fees.
Residential Building Permits Extended
?The Board of County Commissioners agreed to extend the expiration period of all active building permits for new single-family homes issued on or before April 3, 2008 for a Group R-3 Occupancy until November 3, 2008. Normally, according to the Clark County Building Administrative Code, all building permits expire and become invalid if the permitted work has not commenced within 180 days from the date the permit was issued or if the work authorized by the permit has had no approved inspections within 180 days of the permit issuance date. Whereas the Building Administrative Code requires applicants to pay a fee to renew expired permits, the extension is automatic without additional charges to permit holders. This extension is one-time only and is in the hope that the residential market will improve during the next six months.
