Governor Gibbons Addresses BANN
Governor Jim Gibbons spoke at the Builders Association of Northern Nevada general membership meeting on April 23. Gibbons focused on housing, Nevada and economic recovery. Tom Powell, CEO of ELP and IntoHomes Mortgage, addressed issues concerning the subprime fallout and what it will take to recover.
BAC Names Executive Director
Bobbie Merrigan has been named executive director of the Builders Association Charity (BAC). Before joining BAC, Merrigan was forward planning and land development manager for KB Home and named the 2007 Builder Member of the Year by the Builders Association of Northern Nevada. Prior to her tenure at KB Home, she worked for builders and developers such as Somersett, Reynen & Bardis and Lewis Homes.
BAC was formed in 1998 to give members of the Builders Association a method of giving back to the local community. In 2007, BAC donated over $125,000 to the community. The charity has assisted local children and families suffering from physical and financial hardship due to catastrophic illness, community disasters such as the Fernley Flood, senior citizens and the handicapped.
BANN Names Director of Special Events
The Builders Association of Northern Nevada (BANN) has named Cheryl Hearn director of special events. She will be responsible for planning and coordinating the association's events such as the Parade of Homes, the Northern Nevada Building Conference, golf tournaments and much more. Hearn will also serve as staff liaison to the Sales and Marketing Council. Before joining BANN, Hearn was director of programs and events at the Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce where she performed similar duties for Chamber events.
